WEAVING WORLDS

Our collaboration began in 2019, driven by a shared love for telling stories. As Visser & Van Leeuwen, we create imaginary worlds where colour, materials, and photography come together to make the extraordinary visible and transform the everyday.

Our work arises from curiosity and spontaneity. A photo album brimming with memories, a fragment from a journey or nature serves as the starting point. We intertwine these elements with handmade objects, vintage clothing, and unique techniques. Each narrative bears the name of a remarkable individual who brings the story to life.

In our studio, a dialogue unfolds between us, where roles as photographer and artist organically blend. This playful process of cutting, pasting, and experimenting leaves room for coincidences, which adds magic to our work.

With simple tools such as a desk lamp as a light source or a washing machine glass for special effects, we create an intimate atmosphere, enhanced by surreal elements. From this mix of collage, photography, and craft techniques, visual stories emerge in the form of colourful books and prints.

We take our audience on an adventure. Our literally and figuratively layered worlds invite reflection, joy, and wonder.
